EuroFabrique sessions
EuroFabrique sessions bring together Europe’s creative youth to reimagine the continent’s future. Each session is uniquely shaped by its local setting and team, engaging diverse talents in a collaborative workshop process that explores new visions for Europe. With formats ranging from focused group work to broader collective projects, EuroFabrique fosters cross-border dialogue, positioning art and design as catalysts for social and cultural transformation.

EuroFabrique Camps is a collaborative project aimed at formalising the transformation of EuroFabrique into an adaptable framework for any network of European art schools, wherever they may be located on the continent. The project is led by ANdÉA, the French national association of higher schools of art and design in partnership with the Cerveira Art Biennial in Portugal, the Cluster of Creative Industries in Transylvania at Cluj-Napoca, and Le Signe, National Center for Graphic Design in Chaumont with the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
A significant challenge was transforming the generated momentum of the first EuroFabrique event into a long-term project. In 2023 the project obtained funding from the European Union’s Creative Europe program, which allowed the creation of the EuroFabriqueCamps, experimental workshop formats to further develop the future format of EuroFabrique.
The project is coordinated by ANdEA, in collaboration with the Cluster of Creative Industries Transylvania (CICT), the Cerveira Art Biennial Foundation in Portugal (FBAC), and Le Signe – Centre National du Graphisme Chaumont in France.
The EuroFabrique Camps project spans 16 months and consists of three camps functioning as collaborative capsules in Romania, France, and Portugal. These are the Think Camp, Design Camp, and Art Camp. Each camp involves eight European higher schools of art and design, with around three students and one professor from each institution.
The EuroFabrique Camps aim to reinforce peer-learning and cross-border solidarities, strengthening and developing an inclusive and intercultural network of art and design schools and cultural institutions.
Project summary
How can Europe’s creative youth prepare themselves to navigate the upheavals of the world and an increasingly uncertain future, particularly after the COVID-19 crisis and amidst a new war at EU borders? How can educational and cultural institutions empower them with the necessary resources to take action, express their creativity, and share their visions for a renewed society, and doing so help restore confidence in a desirable common future, foster social innovation and participate in a dynamic of resilience?
EuroFabrique is a nomadic international programme launched in 2022 by ANdÉA – French National Association of Higher Schools of Art and Design, RmnGrandPalais and the École des Arts Décoratifs Paris. It regularly brings together students from European art schools with the aim of exploring and creating together forms representing the European continent and producing new creative narratives. The first edition in Paris at the Grand Palais Éphémère, was followed by a second EuroFabrique event in Cluj-Napoca in Romania in 2023. Transforming EuroFabrique energy into a long-term project is now a significant challenge. In order to support the structuring of EuroFabrique into a system that can be adapted to any network of European art schools, ANdÉA together with it’s three consortium partners the Cerveira Art Biennial in Portugal, the Transylvania Creative Industries Cluster in Cluj-Napoca and Le Signe, Centre National du Graphisme in Chaumont, have obtained financial support of the Creative Europe programme in 2023 to co-organise three EuroFabrique Camps over 16 months. They represent a diversity of organizations mobilized on the trajectories of emerging artists and designers, have decided to join forces at European level to shape together the futures of EuroFabrique while consolidating an inclusive cross-border network. These collaborative capsules are designed to test new cooperation prototypes and to reflect on the future actors, structures, forms and content of EuroFabrique while continuing to activate the same collaborative method and actively engaging European creative youth, facilitating their international mobility and building their creative and critical skills and resilience capacities. Ultimately, the aim is to raise awareness about the role of artists and designers as drivers for social, political, economic, and cultural development and social resilience and participating in a more inclusive and tolerant society.
Results
The EuroFabrique ThinkCamp took place in Cluj, Romania, from 6 to 8 December 2023 to work collectively on redefining the EuroFabrique concept, exploring its possible formats and transmission methods, while 170 students and teachers from 19 art schools in 9 European countries experienced the second edition of EuroFabrique. The outcome of this first Camp is the EuroFabrique Label Guide.
The EuroFabrique DesignCamp, which was held in France at Signe, centre national du graphisme, from 5 to 9 February 2024, brought together 42 graphic design students and teachers from 10 art schools in 7 European countries. The participants took up the challenge of co-designing a visual identity toolbox from which future hosts of EuroFabrique events could draw to create their own identity, one that fits in with a shared EuroFabrique identity.
The EuroFabrique ArtCamp took place in Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal, from 23-27 September 2024, as part of the XXIII Cerveira International Art Biennial. 33 students from 11 art schools from 7 European countries came together to work on a curatorial manifesto linked to the major issues facing the continent.
The development of a website, currently underway, will give larger visibility of proposals and visions emerging from the project.
