Nice to Formeet You! , Wipe Your Feet (Before Entering) and Pilgrimage

Students from HEAR and HfG worked in three mixed and collaborative  groups, engaging in multiple meetings held in both cities previous to EuroFabrique. During these sessions, three complementary projects emerged, focusing on the concepts of borders and rivers.

Nice to Formeet You! is a mechanism and performance that intends to question the notions of freedom and borders, through a data collection simulating a bureaucratic device. During EuroFabrique, the group met with participants and visitors to collect data that has been gathered into a database that is now accessible online and form an archive of the event.

Wipe Your Feet (Before Entering) is an installation of doormats arranged on the ground, reflecting students’ concerns about Europe. The installation addressed the idea of thresholds and transitions, symbolizing the boundary between external and domestic spaces. The doormat also has the function of getting rid of dirt and marks a form of respect towards the host. It is also often a welcome message, more or less humorous.

Pilgrimage is an installation featuring videos, photographs, 3D scans, texts, drawings, maps, GPS tracks, and objects collected by the students during their journey along the Franco-German border between Karlsruhe and Strasbourg. This project highlighted the ordinariness of border crossings, challenging the group’s initial expectations and perceptions. The vehicle used for this journey was utilized as a medium for projection and display throughout EuroFabrique.
