Project Concept

As part of Eurofabrique project, we developed an immersive installation that explores the sense of belonging, of home, of a contemporary Europe we all share. A home is a place of safety that provides an opportunity for meaningful moments, on both a personal and societal level, emphasizing the importance of community, history, heritage, active engagement and growth. A community within a home often revolves around shared values, traditions and common needs, all of those having a deep networking of mutual support and care for each individual, which in our case, came not only from a different cultural background but also from a personal one.

In our increasingly urbanized world, the presence or absence of the natural environment is shaping our identity and subjective aspects of inner space, and outer space as well. Considering this to be a part of the life cycle, we decided to continue the idea of a “cultural home” with a garden. The garden symbolizes growth and renewal, the place where life is blooming, and eventually fades away. The garden represents the bridge between the outside and the inside, belonging to the inside of a home as well. Our garden highlights our relationship with the environment and our capacity to shape and cultivate our surroundings. It evokes feelings of nostalgia, tranquility and inspiration, offering a space for reflection and sensory delights that were created by knitting and crocheting structures together, as a way of perpetuating tradition and heritage.
