EuroFabrique is a nomadic and international art project that invites the creative youth to collaboratively create and transmit their visions and creative narratives of the future of Europe. It was initiated in 2022 by GrandPalaisRmn, the École des Arts Décoratifs Paris, and ANdÉA – French National Association of Public Art & Design Schools – as part of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union.
EuroFabrique has since spread regularly, as recently in Cluj, Romania, at Le Signe in Chaumont, in Cerveira, Portugal and soon in many other locations.
In February 2022, the Grand Palais Éphémère hosted 400 students from 35 European art schools for a week-long series of workshops culminating in 19 innovative projects that reimagined the European continent’s artistic narratives. The event that had transformed the space into a dynamic hub of creativity featured mentoring and studio visits, conferences, performances, and an open day attended by 2,600 visitors.
In response to the invasion of Ukraine, EuroFabrique established an emergency fund to support displaced students, raising €75,900 to aid 59 students and offer 69 scholarships across 12 European art schools. From December 5-10, 2023, the second edition took place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, uniting 170 participants from eight European countries. This event featured interdisciplinary workshops, lectures, and performances, engaging over 600 attendees and introducing the first EuroFabrique Think Camp.
The momentum from these events led to the establishment of EuroFabrique as a permanent initiative, supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Union. Over 16 months, three EuroFabriqueCamps were planned to develop new cooperation prototypes and solidify a cross-border network of artistic collaborators. These include the ThinkCamp in Cluj, a DesignCamp in Chaumont, France, and an upcoming ArtCamp in Portugal.
EuroFabrique has evolved into a multifaceted concept and network, encompassing 58 European art schools and 588 students from 17 countries. With aspirations to become a traveling biennial, EuroFabrique aims to shift its base with each EU presidency, continually fostering creativity and collaboration across Europe.
Growing organically, since it’s beginning EuroFabrique has become a multilayered object :
EuroFabrique, the project is a giant European school of art and design, a workshop and laboratory designed to encourage reflection on the idea of Europe, bringing together the energy and creativity of artists and designers from all over Europe.
EuroFabrique the space is a moving atelier
EuroFabrique the event is a collaborative work in process atelier where international youth are guided to reimagine the future of Europe == AGENDA
EuroFabrique the label can be applied to events where participants come together to reshape (imagining and act) the future of Europe (this work is rooted in the institutions and creative brains) ===
EuroFabrique the network is a growing, inclusive, intercultural, and interdisciplinary network composed of European art and design schools, cultural institutions, and project partners. The network currently includes over 60 schools across 17 European countries, fostering ideas for the future of Europe through co-creation and collaboration.
Eurofabrique the concept is a collaborative work in process. Eurofabrique is conceived as a co-design process the actors play a key role in all the steps of designing and implementing Eurofabrique.
The mid-term objective is to establish a distinct label for the EuroFabrique format, allowing it to operate autonomously. Looking further ahead, the long-term goal is to develop a traveling biennale that aligns with the rotation of European national presidencies. This biennale would occur every two years, uniting around forty institutions in a significant event, akin to the one launched at the Grand Palais Ephémère in February 2022. This initiative would involve collaboration between the national art schools and major cultural institutions. Additionally, the aim is to expand the Eurofabrique Network, fostering collaborative thinking to envision the future of Europe.
