Pollen
Pollen was inspired by botanist Francis Hallé’s project to (re)create a primary forest in Western Europe. The project examined concepts of growth, renewal, and transformation through shifting boundaries between nature and culture. The natural cycles of plants—such as regeneration and reproduction—served as models for collaboration among participants. It explored how artistic processes like fusion, pollination, grafting, fragmentation, and propagation could be reappropriated to generate new forms and foster the emergence of an art (é)cosystem. The project unfolded in both physical and virtual spaces, using drawing as a tactile language and the digital realm as a virtual platform (inspired by video games and the metaverse) to facilitate new forms of exchange. The lack of hierarchy between these spaces enabled a continuous exchange of ideas, leading to the creation of new territories. Pollen was an invitation to celebrate the differences, fragility, and interdependence of all forms of life.
