Academy of Fine Arts in Prague

The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU), established in 1799, is a broadbased, state, university-level art school deploying the synergy resulting from the combination of traditional studios devoted to painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, restoration of artwork and architecture with more conceptually inclined studios of new media and intermedia, offering Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programs, as well as an English program Art in Context.

The Academy’s buildings are located in the centre of Prague and offer modern, well equipped studios and other specialized workplaces, such as the printmaking, metal, wood and stucco workshops, a sound studio, digital and 3D lab featuring among others a robotic arm, art supplies shop, library and AVU klub eatery and bar. AVU is a highly selective institution that seeks to enhance its historical tradition and prestige. It maintains its exclusivity by having only a small number of students (approximately 350). The small size enables an individual approach and a friendly relaxed atmosphere with community feel.
With the support of EuroFabrique AVU has participated in exhibition at the Grand Palais Éphémère. EuroFabrique has also generously awarded financial support to Ukrainian artists and students fleeing from the war in Ukraine to AVU.
